The Jungle Look

I walked into Zara today, and honestly? I might as well have just walked into the Amazonian rainforest.

Okay slight exaggeration, but truthfully I think we can only blame one thing...

Hello Kenzo

Andy Torres from Stylescrapbook

It's not one of those 'love at first sight' moments, it's more of a, 'love developed after getting to know the personality' kind of thing. Not to be rude Kenzo, but when I first saw the sweater I didn't really give it a second glance.

Despite my initial contemplation, I came across more and more images of people wearing the jumper in question, and not one of them did I think it looked wrong. I actually am admitting that I have joined in with the 'tiger following', and I am sure you already understand this following, is not a small one, evident by the neat, grey, 'sold out' box under the £165 blue version at net-a-porter.

The inspiration for the jumper came from the interiors in Paris. Leon and Lim, when designing the women's collection for S/S 13 took their inspiration from rugs from the 60's and 70's. Leon said 'Then as we were looking through the archives, one of the things that stood out through the ages of Kenzo is that he had these little tigers that would be on the inside of waistbands, on the inside of bags, on tiny things in watches.'

So Kenzo created it's iconic image, the tiger. I can't fault the imagery, full of power, elegance and undeniably beautiful. This is the jumper that sold out within 3 hours of being available in Paris:

And if you're not too keen on forking out $255 for the jumper, or you're not the Sherlock Holmes of finding jumpers, then I suggest you check out Zara and Topshop for good-looking alternatives.

  1. Ahhh the sweater. But realistically - everything in that first photo is perfect..that long holographic sequined skirt.
